​Agility Foundations

Agility Foundations are the keys to success out on the agility field. 

In this class we will cover 3 basic concepts in agility:
1. Equipment & Equipment Safety 
Foundations that will set up your agility dog for life! 

2. Handling
The human half of the agility and how your natural cues guide your dog. 

​3. Spaces in Between
Preparing dogs for training sessions and competition.
​​Format:
  • In person, 6 x 60 minute classes​
  • 4 dog handler teams per class​
Location:
Southbelt, Rossland, BC

Eligibility: 
Dogs have basic training skills and can work in close proximity to other dogs.

Start Date: Spring 2027
Course Description
Build the foundations you need without the distractions of the stock! This fun class will teach you how to control your dog in the most distracting situations. Work on the exercises this fall in order to successfully transition to stock in the spring! 

Drywork lessons focus on the pieces of herding that are obedience based. We also go over some basic stock related concepts that the human needs to understand. 

Topics covered include:
*Getting a reliable moving lie down
*All about flanks 
*Look Back
*Pressure bubbles, draws and other herding concepts
*Responding to cues under distraction
And so much more! 
Outcome
On completion of the course you will be ready to head over to Winlaw for lessons on stock with herding expert Melanie Zarchikoff. 

​Format: 
  • In Person, 6 x 1 hour classes
  • 4-6 dogs per class (max)
  • Family members welcome to join

​Suitable for fully vaccinated puppies and dogs aged 17 weeks and older
who can work in close proximity to other dogs

Vaccination Requirements 
​Dogs must be up to date on DHPP or equivalent vaccinations for all classes. Titre test results are also accepted for adult dogs. Bordetella is recommended but not required.

Proof of vaccination or titre results must be provided before class.
